Hi. I want to learn, i would like to make some friends in that process

Hi. I am from Montenegro, Balkans. I am here to learn everything i can about gimp, graphics, so i can continue with my final plan about making money on the internet. I don't know anything about those stuff, i just started working on it, so i am just trying to learn as much as I can. I would also like to make some friends in this community, who could help with some basics in the beggining.

I would just like to know, from where should i beggin with gimp, i was trying to make a text portrait, but it didn't go well. Too many tutorials, ones were too complicated, and for the others, my gimp was not working.
