Sorry to bother u guys. I kind of like try 2.9 linear light color space in high color depth but got confusing result: it seems not work at all. I can only guess there's sth tricky setting I got wrong. Here are the steps:
1.download partha gimp2.9.5
2.download a quite simple demo image at Elle Stone's site, like this:

3.set gimp's precision to 32bit fp&linear light, paint. I should got result like the 2nd row, but somehow I always got ugly dark edges, like this:

btw, in krita with exactly same steps everything work fine

Not exactly sure what you are doing, how or other. I know how to change mode but don't understand (linear light) unless it is a dynamic.
Picture otherwise looks similar in my 2.8.18
