i'm new to Gimp and am very "non" Computer savvy. I want to learn how to take a photo...change it around...and then move it to another site. Just getting a photo downloaded has been a stumbling block....Help ! I need a REAL BASIC intro. Mary Ann

:welcome to Gimp Chat coeranch!

Since we need to have more information about what you have for an operating system, version of GIMP, etc., click this link http://www.gimpchat.com/viewforum.php?f=8 and click New Topic and fill out that form at the top, then ask your questions there.

Welcome to GIMPChat Mary Ann. As for sharing images here, you are in luck. Tux allows you to do so directly here. Just click the browse button for your image file and then submit your post. You can post up to 4 (or is it 5) files per post as I recall. You can also use your own image hosting site (as I sometimes do) but you need to familiarize yourself with bbcode formating. Not hard; tux sort of automates the process with the reply format buttons, but you need to go to full editor mode to see them. Still, understanding bbcode format will be extremely benificial to you. :)

Hi, Mary Ann,
I, along with a bunch of others am glad you found your way here. There is a lot of knowledge and a lot of nice people here who don't consider any question too dumb to answer. Everybody here remembers when they were new. Snobbery and mean attitudes aren't tolerated and as long as you bring donuts, cookies, brownies, or other form of sweets as bribery, you'll probably make some friends.
