Hi all, glad to join the forum after a short time lurking - didn't take long to recognise the talent here.

Used Gimp casually for years - the usual home/office stuff - resize, maybe crop and change format that was it. Got serious the month or so ago and now realise I could spend the rest of my life learning Gimp and it's software relations - looks like I have a new hobby!

So much to learn, it's amazing, flirted around scripts, plugins and have gravitated toward Mathmap (Windows Plugin). I'm spending all my spare time on that at the moment and trying to write myself a dummy's guide to scripting for it (most of it aimed at not crashing it).

See you in a thread :)

A couple of my "creations" (courtesy of the incredible G'MIC filters):

Hi Step7, nice to have somebody else from the UK. Welcome to Gimp Chat. G'MIC is the most essential filter set there is for Gimp. I like the way you've used it to remove detail from the background in these two shots.

Welcome aboard step7 nice to have you here on Gimp Chat.

Your work is very nice and very well presented. I love the way you placed the originals into a shadow box like feature. Very cool :welcome :peng

A big welcome from me to you as well step7. G'MIC definitely is a must have tool and still am glad it works in GIMP 2.8 64-bit (thanks extremely to samj for supporting the 64-bit platform). :)

LOL cheers, they were just quick hacks as I'm learning my around Gimp and GMIC. Just goes to show how good this software is! Total noob and "presentable" results in no time. Fell off my chair 1st time I played with the painting filters in GMIC :)
