Just to say hi! I am a convert from Adobe PS 4.0 (hobby user) and after having trouble reinstalling PS on laptop someone recommended I try GIMP 2.8. Any advice would be appreciated: Running Win7 HP x64 on Toshiba laptop--2 years old.

I have two questions to begin with:
1) What do I need to install first prior to installing GIMP 2.8/ I thought I had read somewhere that something like GTK needs to be installed first. Or am I "way off-base"?
2) When I have problems and making future posts/threads is their a STANDARD FORM that I fill out depicting my hardware/software environment prior to listing?

Thanks and I am looking forward to trying this photo editing software. Happy Holidays to all! Let there be peace in the world! Pray for those children and parents in Conneticut!

Hello, Mike and welcome to GC!

GTK and Python package are already included in 2.8 official installation. All you need to do is to run Windows GIMP installer
Click on Download GIMP 2.8.2. link. It's the latest stable version from Sourceforge webpage.

Yes. Create a new topic in the GIMP Help forum and you'll be presented a form to fill in.

:welcome aboard!

Good day WaveRunner01, the Windows install should be painless. If you like using keyboard shortcuts have a peak at this thread.
