Hello. I am a person who is interested in taking photos (using a camera, not stealing) and editing them if I so choose. Knowing how to create awesome images is crucial during almost everybody's lifespan, and I have decided upon gimp to do so. I sign up to Gimp Chat to see if I can contribute somehow, but mostly to learn. I am also surprised that this username has not been taken.

Many folks have wanted to change the GIMP acronym for some time now. Of course that will probably never happen.
