I don't know. I have never tried. Where do I get the GAP source?

It claims to have been tested on your 2-7-2 build,and contains an old source code.

It seems nobody know how compile mathmap, i believe last version was compiled by Mister Fluffes /Commander
Guff but i lost his mail i would not know how contact him to ask advice.

well i supposed may be traced also browsing old messages on the MM flickr and google group, maybe even some old MM installer show its mail

If it worked on my 2.7.2 version, see if it will work for you.

Gimp always seems to give problems starting when installed in a directory other than C...for some reason.
Maybe it's looking for other dependencies from Windows found only in the C directory?
Partha would probably know more...drop him a line.

OR try his portable version which comes with all the goodies also.(python support, and other stuff)

The portable works in any directory including external drives of course. I don't see any intrinsic reason why it does not work if you install in a directory other than C. I am providing all the DLLs and so, it should not need anything from Windows other than the PATH.

Can you be more specific about "it freaks out"? What is the error message you get?

No, sorry. I am using 1.5.4. Are there any additional benefits to 1.5.6? I will plan for it for the release version if there is.

Yeah, loading part of apng plugin doesn't work when compiled with 1.5.4 or 1.5.5

I applied the apng patch to 1.5.4 last time when I put apng in place of png. Now, I have removed it since it was creating issues.

Some of the issues come by using as replacement for png save, it has different arguments so break all plugins and script counting on the default png plugin

Not sure of remaining issues if used as additional plugin...are the main bugs solved ?

Nice idea which I though might be a good workaround but I am still getting the GNU Image Manipulation Program has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I must have really messed up somewhere as I am now unable to run any version of GIMP on my setup. I have uninstalled anything related to GIMP and GTK, gone through the registry to get rid of any remnants and run system file checker and update... and installed the portable version to a USB stick, but I still get the same error! As far as I can see the problem is only seen with GIMP and I have been able to reinstall RawTherapee without any problem.

Any ideas of what else to try would be very welcome.

JamesH unfortunately does not provide an alternative new source for XP - old compilation of his work: apng, gmic; mathmap and userfilter - is working properly !.
Its compilation is flawless.
In your previous compilation that also works!
Your new version, for me, it gives a lot of errors, additions to the old (but I think the problem is too many versions of GIMP in the system?).
It's just a novice user wishes ....

I think Rod is testing the waters to learn and he is doing an excellent job of it! So, you can say he and I are collaborating. I am not familiar with JamesH or his builds, so you will have to excuse my ignorance.

If you will tell me what the errors are, I will try to address them.

I am stumped. I can't tell you what the error is. I have not changed anything in my build other than removing apng as it was giving a lot of trouble as PC has also pointed out in this thread. So, I don't know what else to offer.
