==bugs left before GIMP 3 release==

1. Drawable refresh issue
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/m ... uests/1454

2. Resizing canvas relocates non-destructive filters applied as selections
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/12596

3. Other misc stuff with GEGL crop that may be the same bug expressing itself different ways. I don't really know if they all root from the same core issues.
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/12205
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/11409
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/11006

4. A new bug with GEGL Opacity
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/12884

5.
And everything else here https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/milestones/3

Today is the first day that I removed GIMP 2.10.38 from my task bar quick start list. Now I am only using GIMP 3 RC3. In my eyes it took about 13.5 months for GIMP 3 to stabilize since I first used it Jan 1st 2024.

Rod: Odd - where did you get that from? In the source repo, we only have RC3+git (to indicate development), there's no RC4 anywhere.

Rod: Ah, gotcha! That was a test commit by Bruno Lopes (who does incredible work on our build process and is responsible for the official AppImage and MS Store package, among other things). It's not meant to be an actual RC4. :)

I agree CmykStudent. Bruno from Brazil has a formidable intellect and it shows Gimp is a global project.

In RC3
Generic > Text styling - opening a picture to overlay the text crashes the GEGL filter and it also awoke my Avast anti virus.

That was a semi recent bug from RC1 that was solved in RC2, unless you are still using GEGL 0.4.52 (which GIMP 3 RC3 doesn't allow) you should not have this bug on GEGL 0.4.54. However I didn't know it would trigger the anti virus.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling RC3. Make sure its not RC1. My hypothesis is you have RC1 GEGL libraries left over.

Styles works for me (Win10 64bit) without any problems (Avast is sleeping peacefully).

A small bug in gimp-splash (not changed from RC2 to RC3):

It did not go unnoticed ;) https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/12886 with the explanation.

The image upload needs to be tested

Without any problems - that is, I also tested sending (overlaying) different images.
I haven't been following Issues for a year (after rejecting subsequent reports/wishes: scrollbar for script-fu, icons in the menu, editing MyPaint brushes, tear-off menu...). :hoh

Understandable....
It's absolute not understandable why they are so much against scrollbars .... those " ui designers"
Are the sooo ugly?
They once have been invented for a reason ....

I closed the issue on gitlab. I assume the crash was with just one person who may have RC1 libraries left over.
