PSA: GIMP 2.10.16 corrupts XCF files, please wait for 2.10.18

Announcement made on reddit's in r/Gimp:

Hi all,

please note that there is an annoying issue in the 2.10.16 code which corrupts XCF files: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/4643

The issue is fixed and the fix will release in a 2.10.18 which is scheduled to happen in the next few days.

The image data in corrupted files is still there and would be recoverable, but we're not yet sure if some rather specific code for that should become part of future releases, as this was caught before 2.10.16 was publicly announced.

Well.....

The Gimp 2.10.18 code is there: https://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gimp/v2.10/

So is a Windows 2.10.18 installer. https://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gi ... 0/windows/

Still not the fastest "..oops.." update, Gimp 2.8.12 which lasted a day

Don't download from gimp.org because you will be considered hackers! :ninja

It's nice that Gimp 2.10.18 fixes one of the major issues introduced by the "pirate" Gimp-2.10.16. :ninja

Now let's wait for Gimp 2.10.20 which will fix bugs with Gimp-2.10.18. (and so on over and over).
For the first time I will be ashamed to recommend the latest Gimp to someone.
Wilber is sick - developers know this (illusory consolation), but you can't see the medicine. :gaah
