Was this here before in Gimp-3.1.1? If so i missed it. The welcome screen is not enlargeable.
Perhaps that would fix the issue?

Looks maybe a little squashed compared with 3.1.1 (I use the linux appimage)
but then not a great problem for me. However it does seem to be missing some window controls (minimise / maximise ..etc)

Don't use GIMP 3.1.2, use 3.04 or - 3.0.5 (compiled) instead. 3.1.2 has serious issues where dropshadow and many of my plugins clip after the text is typed.


Put simply in GIMP 3.1.2 Text with a drop shadow clips after typing further
or deleting the layer and undoing it..
