Rod - Your idea is very good (complete files by addresses).
I analyzed their help files.
I missed my files in my version - I made a mistake mixing (html) version 2.6 and 2.8 - and only here are the errors.

Rod the Basic concepts was fixed by following your advice thank you and your right the other 2 pages do exist but it depends on what the plugin is asking for, and becouse it's not python or script-fu I cannot read.
I tried to find the 'c' file for the plugin but to no avail, hoping you can work out what the plugin wants.

That is the problem i believe. The plug-in is asking for HTML pages that are not named correctly.
I was hoping, because it showed you the usage page was the name it was asking for with "basic concepts link" it would also show you the other 2.
The browser plug-in throws the same errors in Gimp-2.6.12.

Isn't that odd? :)
I wonder if this plug-in was written for a earlier version of help files.
I wish i could find the C file for this plug-in.

Check to see if the basic concepts, and dialog usage links work will you Graechan?
I wonder if Partha has the c file then? Perhaps he compiled it with his 64 bit version?
Why else would it work for 64 bit but not 32 bit Gimp-2.8?

The dialogues say eek section 'D' but it's accessable via section 3 menu in browser everything else seems OK.
The 64 bit windows I'm using is the one from gimpusers via installer (gimp-2.8.0-setup.exe).

@INDtanay

Are you using the help.exe file to unpack the files to a temporary location rather than straight to the Gimp installation folder.Using an installer from
http://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gim ... 2.8/2.8.2/ and a suitable language package.

This is the (us) english installer, basically just an unpacker for all the files. Usually the default Gimp installation location is ok but you can change that when you get to the page after this:

Once installed: Into Edit -> Preferences. Make sure it says There's a local installation... and you can choose between the Gimp help browser or Web Browser (usually IE)

Sometimes problems with language if the computer is set up for a different language to Gimp.
Try Edit -> Preference -> Interface and specify the Gimp language.

If all else fails and even if it works, I can recommend the same help files in PDF format from
http://gimp.linux.it/www/meta/ indexed and searchable

Your path for the files should be - C > Program Files > GIMP 2 > share > gimp > 2.0 >help> en >

You are very welcome. Is your help browser working now?

By the way. The reason GIMP help manual isn't included with default GIMP downloads is because it is very large. Though GIMP has gotten pretty big (file size ways) it really wouldn't hurt to include it in default versions i don't think. :)

No, F1 Button is still not working. It says something about crashing help-browser.exe .. (not precise; I'll give precise info. with images)
Yes you're right! :D It has become bulky. And opens slowly.
But I don't need it working now. :)
Sometimes its good to explore wonders without help :D

Should work, the example I gave was WinXP sp3

not a problem, dump it use the PDF I referenced.

http://gimp.linux.it/www/meta/gimp-en.pdf

Separate from Gimp, so no use using F1, but at least you can search and look up functions.
