I'm attempting to re-create the sunray effect in the attached image. I've managed to get the sunrays using the blinds effect but I can't get them to position in the exact angles they are in the image. I'm re-creating the entire image so i'd like it to be exact to the pixel if possible.

Is there any other way i can draw them exact to the image? Sorry for the nooby question.

One of the options: Create a background with a sunbeam effect much larger than what's needed for the text.
Make the text the right size and place it where you want it. Then crop the image to the desired size.

Starting with your blinds use the Kaleidescope (Reptorian Polar) [under distortions] and move the sliders till you get what you want. Move the white dot from the center to the side to have the centre where you want.

Thanks everyone, i will give these suggestions a go. Does anyone have a rough idea of what the pink hex colour could be? I know the photo is a bit dark to show the true colour but i like my re-creations to be just spot on if possible.

As for the colour. If you have the picture you want to copy - put it into the gimp and pick the colour and look at the info window.
The colour you picked shows in the right of that box and there are drop down menus to see your information.

It's been a few weeks but i finally cracked it along with getting the right fonts etc. The colours are exact as well, the lighting in my example didn't show the true colours but i'm happy with it.
