Remove people in the background?

GIMP Version: 2.10.30
Operating System: Linux
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

How can I go about removing the "people" in the back of this image? I want the the rock to extend to the sand with no trace of the humans. I've tried cloning, healing, but I can't get anything to look natural. Please assist.

Here's my effort.
cloned rocks and sand, then smudged to get rid of rough artifacts/edges

The below I think is a little better too since i feather selected around the rocks meeting the sand and applied a blur to give out of focus look

it's a silent video but you should be able to see what I do (to sample area).
i just apply to the whole beach with the same technique.

Never thought of using the smudge tool to blur cloning. I usually use the heal tool over the cloning unless I use the clone at 'aligned' mode which often gives a natural look.

I am not advanced enough to use the heal tool, i don't even know what the heal tool does hehe

Heal Selection (Resythesizer) works pretty well also.
