GIMP Version: 3.0.6
Operating System: Linux
OS Version: 6.17.1-arch1-1
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

List any ERROR messages you received:
(gimp:42385): Gimp-CRITICAL **: 09:42:52.087: main: assertion 'gdk_display_get_default () != NULL' failed


Recently (I'm not exactly sure what version), I'm no longer able to run GIMP without an interface:

Code: Select all
$ gimp --no-interface
(gimp:42385): Gimp-CRITICAL **: 09:42:52.087: main: assertion 'gdk_display_get_default () != NULL' failed


Has anyone else got this problem?

I can get the same with a ubuntu based Gimp 3.0.6 appimage

I can not find a bug report for linux but it is recognised for MacOS

Looks like you're right. Seems like we wont get the fix until 3.2. I can't post enternal links but here's the GitLab issue number 15099
