I have used Gimp successfully for several years. Yesterday I downloaded the latest version (3.0.6). When I tried to do a "save as" operation to my Documents file, I got a message that Gimp wanted permission to access the file. By mistake I pushed the reject button. Now Gimp won't access the Documents file. How can I undo the reject and give Gimp permission to read the file? I tried deleting Gimp and re-installing it but I still get the same lockout.

Usually removing the gimprc file and restarting GIMP works most of the time.
In windows it is found here.
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\3.0\
Not sure where you can find it in Mac.

I found the file but deleting didn't help.

On Mac the location is
~/Library/Application Support/GIMP/3.0/~

Try System Settings/Privacy and Security/Files & Folders/Gimp and see if thre's something there you can change. Screenshot of mine below:
