Hi, everyone.

I've been gradually, over years, migrating from one Linux machine to one with a newer version of the OS, and as I do so, I have tended to install newer versions of apps on the latter while maintaining versions on the former.

Most of the time I haven't noticed anything, and I have been off-GIMP for months, and gotten rusty.

WrapMap 0.4 does not appear where it used to in v2.8: under Filters->Map, although a number of others found in ~/.gimp_2.8/plug-ins/ do. (I believe I redd that 2.10 scarfs up scripts from 2.8's directory if it is not renamed.)

Can someone address WrapMap's workability in v2.10? For me, it has become the sine qua non tail that wags the GIMP dog.

Just downloaded, installed on my Windows Gimp 2.10.11 and it works (very slowly).
I can't say whether it works properly (I mean: as before) because never used before.

I've got something fouled then in my Ubuntu 18.04/GIMP 2.10 setup. My first suspect is a missing ~/.gimp_2.10/ subdir, but I think I'll try an unin/reinstall of 2.10 to see what's possimus first. I got a feeling that "Something New" occurred in the way apps are installed in 18.04 and I may have done something to make that angry.

Seems to work here in Linux Mint 19.1 (based on Ubunto 18.04). Extremely slow however, hell it's still trying to render it's first test.....

I think you have already found that 1) Resources get copied to the Gimp 2.10 profile 2) The profile is in ~/.config/GIMP/2.10 A hidden folder. You can safely delete this, rename the old Gimp 2.8 profile to disable and Gimp will create a new default profile, with clean settings.

"Something New" Ubuntu / Mint Gimp 2.10 is different. No python by default, so no Ofnuts plugins. You have to install the gimp-python package separately. (although used to be this way back in ancient Gimp days )

I forgot about the "No Python" for the PPA. That explains it. Thanks for the tip on the installation.

FYI, the appImage already comes with Python installed.

Thank goodness you are ancient enough to provide perspective. (I'm not sure that came out right.) I appreciate the Other Thing to try before a new install. Luckily I fell asleep in my chair before triggering one off.

One of my first scripts (if not my first...). In 2.10 things can be done differently, so pondering a rewrite.

which caused me to come back to this thread for a re-reed. I discovered I'd mis-interpreted your "No python by default" comment above to refer to "Something New" Ubuntu/Mint only. In fact, my Ubuntu 18.04 did not install the gimp-python package when GIMP 2.10 was installed either.

When I ran:
% sudo apt install gimp-python

Pooph! Wrap-Map is back listed under Filters->Map->.

"WrapMap does work in GIMP 2.10 in Ubuntu 18.04." so no rewrite is required: it is still familiarly slow.

(In fact, I had two versions of WrapMap 0.4, including an ephemeral one, I think, which showed status--which added further to the long waits and which required that the registration info be edited inside the scripts to keep them distinct. Knowing no formal Python, this last part was a millon-monkeys-at-keyboards exercise. "Status" is indicate visually in 0.4 anyway.)
