Good choice - gmic's faster, the same x,y,z position of the cubes looks awkward though
can it be a different transition for each letter-cube without increasing render time to eternity?

Thank you Marcello. I merged the text down, went alpha to selection then ran the default "Candy" gradient over it. I added a shadow to the text.
