I third that idea; it is getting a little hard to remember where all the various presets are now. lol

I don't really get the idea to be honest. There are very few words used in each filter definition (in definition, I mean filter name and associated parameters names), and most of the parameters names are quite 'generic' (width, amplitude, angle,...), so they have no interest for a keyword match.
So, the search engine could only search over the filter names, which seems really useless to me, because either you already know the filter name (in that case, you don't really need a search engine, you just need a way to remember where it is, which is quite different in my opinion), either you don't know the filter name, and in this case you probably won't find it ever by using a keyword search.

To me, the use a keyword search engine would imply that there are 'tags' associated to each filters, and in this case, yes, having a search engine would be great and useful. But adding 'tags' to filters is a hard and laborious task and I doubt this is something essential to add now to the plug-in (after all, there are only about 300 filters when all additional filters are enabled).

Now, if you want a complete list of filters, why not pushing the 'zoom in' button below the filter list, it will open all subfolders and you can easily navigate in the filter list. This is how I proceed when I don't remember where one particular filter is. Still, I think that if all filters were correctly (I mean 'logically') sorted, we shouldn't have to care about the way of finding a filter. If the sorting follows a kind of logic, this could solve the problem in my opinion.

By zoom button you mean the one on the bottom right?

I was talking about the button located right to the "Internet" checkbox, below the filter tree.

I was referring only to the names of the filters (not the content).
For example. A modern application launcher menu of an operating system usually has a quick search field to find applications. Yes, you can navigate through the menu until find the application as it did with the traditional launcher menu. But it is often useful to use the search field. That's the concept to which I refer.
Imagine, you on your system probably has far fewer programs installed that filters in G'MIC. So I think that if the filters have a correct name to describe what it do (mostly in G'MIC already has a good descriptive name), a quick search field can be useful.

Well i am going to keep the version i created and just update and add it to each new def file.
I kind of like being able to scroll down that list with bright colors and find exactly where that filter is hiding.
