Attached is the part of the logo I made with GIMP for my nephew some time ago.
It looks like a text that was chiseled out of the concrete base.
Trying to figure out what i did and it has become a conundrum that is haunting me in the past few days.
I have a good memory but my brain has swallowed more info in the last few months than it can ever digest.
(beside heavy digging in Blender im learning Rhino and have harnessed Sculptris, Inkscape, AI and some other stuff)
Need to take it easy on devouring all that complicated software :(

I give up, but some of you may have a ready answer for that.

Thanks in advance!

It could be and most likely is. The problem that I should have mentioned is that it was made in a hurry on a short notice request and I used one of the logo scripts in GIMP and just removed some of the layers script created. Tried them all already, no success.

i dont know about the logo-script - i never use them

i would just alpha select the grey text, shrink by one
fill on a new transparent layer with a texture
or noise plus dilate as in garagecoder's hairy tut
and then bumpmap the text layer with it

lots of textures can work
i used leather for example and it didnt look like leather at all after the mapping
