Inspiration: meaning = "something that makes someone want to do something or that gives someone an idea about what to do or create";

The point of this question is to see where other people get their inspiration. Either it be manifestations/recreations of existing applications or design mechanisms or maybe you saw something that you wanted to learn to create in which broadened your view of the mathematical reality of the consents of the matrix.

Whenever I'm having a hard time designing. I like to head down by the river where I live and meditate. Other times I'll meditate in my office with some music to help me broaden the abstract view of my consciousness, but sometimes meditation just isn't enough. So when it comes to resources I figured why not share where we get our inspiration online.

When you are looking for inspiration on design or development. Where do you go?

a great place to pick up some inspiring ideas

im addicted to finding inspiration, its keeping me alive
they say you shall celebrate life and i think geting inspired is the best way to feel really alive

when i was younger i used to buy tons of magazines and collect pages in folders

that changed with the internet, im no longer buying magazines, but i save images whenever i see something that i like for whatever reason
sometimes its just a small detail

i get inspired by all kinds of stuff: fashion, interior design, science fiction, music, philosophy, history, graffiti, photography, comics/manga

when im in need for inspiration i use to search as many images of the same kind as possible
then i try to create my own spin on what i see

here is a (short and) incomplete list of what inspired me in the last 2 years:
Music: my Drum & Bass, Techno and Ambient records, old and new, also old David Bowie
Designers: The Designers Republic, Julius, Rick Owens, Jean Paul Gaultier, 3A, kenntwofour, Enrique Elicabe, Alexander MCQueen (RIP), John Galliano, Banksy, Vievienne Westwood (& Malcolm Mc Laren) and loads of people i dont know the names of
Movies: The Alien Movies, Bladerunner, Tron, StarWars and the animated Clone Wars series, They Live, Sukiyako Western, Style Wars, Exit through the gift shop
Comics: Dorohedoro, Blame !, Biomega, Gantz, everything by Moebius, B.P.R.D.
Books: Neuromancer, Eon, Illium/Olympos, Hyperion, Mindplayers, Synners, Pollen, More Brilliant Than The Sun
etc.

i used to practice chakra meditation for three years - that never gave me any inspiration in terms of art or being creative, i think, but it heightens your self awareness

i can get inspired by almost anything, but for the past month or so i've been feeling uninspired and a bit empty. my solution was to rest my head as much as i could and not demand too much of myself. after that, ideas and inspiration started flowing again .

i do have some favourite sources of inspiration, though. people inspire me. looking at people who pass me by in the streets and their different styles and personalities. thinking of friends and family or just people who caught my attention for some reason always gives me ideas.
pictures inspire me a lot too. just like esper i collect pictures that catch my attention.
any good story inspires me, no matter how, when or where it is told.
music of course. any good music is inspiring to me and can give me heaps of ideas.

Not feeling too inspired myself at the moment, normally if I have no idea about anything I will just load up gimp and start playing with filters and stuff. I normally end up deleting a lot but every now and then something happens that I want to follow through with as it is just enough to spark and idea. Then once my imagination has been sparked I might search out images relating to my thoughts to further enhance my ideas.
I also find looking at texture and colour in everyday life quite fascinating and inspiring, the one thing I am finding quite interesting at the moment is looking at shadows and how they form. The fact that two different light sources will create two different strength shadows which can cross each other and cause a third area of shadow to be formed.
