Thank you everyone. Dropped Princess off at 9AM, came home and picked her up at 3:30P. Surgery went well, she hates the e-collar but she ate well and she is still feeling the effects of her pain meds.

They performed a partial corneal graft, it should save the eye (99% success rate), follow up on Friday and recovery time is six weeks. The pink stuff is where her lids are sutured. No need to respond to my crazy rants but wanted to update as you were all so kind.

Awe, there is nothing more sad that watching a pet suffer. Looks like she will get used to the collar even though she doesn't like it. I am glad the surgery went well.

I feel that this may have occurred during the grooming. Being absolutely sure, without doubt is difficult to prove.
It seems like what may have happened was an accident, but if it did happen at the groomers. They failed to inform you of this "accident".
If this did occur at the groomers, I'm pretty sure that they are aware that this happened, and are keeping this information from you.
If I were to poke someone in the eye, I think I would be aware of in. The dog can't tell you directly what had happen, but any eye injury (at the time) is a very dramatic event. Recovery for such an event as this would take more then a few minutes, and usually only much later is any apparent injury noticed.
This would be very careless and or unprofessional for a groomer to not be aware that they just stuck something into a dogs eye. It's highly unlikely that this kind of accident would/should go unnoticed by any groomer.
You may want to avoid this particular groomer in the future.

Thats a good point Wallace. Vets make hundreds of dollars for every visit to their office and every one can't afford those prices so if this was the fault of the groomer, then they should have come forward and the reason they wouldn't is because they don't want to pay $1000 for eye surgery.
I think I would investigate this thing if it were me.

I feel the same way, but if they are hiding the facts. It would be very difficult to prove without any doubt.
If the groomers had an accident during the grooming. They should have insurance to cover themselves. Unless in was done out of carelessness or negligence on their part, then no insurance would cover any such claim.
That would be a reason why, if it did occur at the groomers. That they failed to mention it.
Accidents happen and that's why people get insurance, but no insurance company would pay a claim due to carelessness or negligence.

Wallace and molly, I felt and feel as you both do but proving it is another thing entirely. My heart is heavy with a possible deception; honesty is always above, equal to and beyond decency. Unfortunately, the one that has suffered most is my little hairy family member. Pocket wise it has run deep but she's only 5 years old and unless the doctor had told me she was in excruciating pain and would be for the rest of her life there wouldn't be anything I wouldn't do.

Accidents happen - but from now on she will be groomed by the technicians at the veterinary.

Thank you both for your advice - it is well-taken and appreciated in more ways than I can say.

I feel terrible about what has happen, but if it did occur at the groomers. They know about it... like I said, getting stuck in the eye with something is a very traumatic/dramatic event for everyone involved. It never goes unnoticed.
Being that this is a dog that it happened to, it's easy to hide the facts, if one chooses to. After all, the dog can't speak for itself.
