Very likely a question to David.
I would like to get the "cracks" on an image (no relief) without disturbing small blurred areas of the same colour of the cracks, but I didn't find a way.
To explain what I mean I post here two outcomes, one with the cracks in dark, the other one with the cracks in light.

Is there a possibility to have the filter modified so that it produces cracks without the disturbing areas?
Thanks

(another good possibility would be to have always the cracks as lines, sometimes they are a sequence of dots, maybe because the line is always of 1 pixel)

There's plenty of craquelure plugins out there, Diego. Pretty much all of them use the voronoi approach as you are trying to do. :)

You can also just blend a texture in as I did with your image. I generated a texture using this pattern and applied it to your image, Diego. :)

thanks, Lyle, but what you show is very far from THAT craquelure I showed on the example: what I like to have is:
the original image broken into large pieces and no other collateral effects, G'MIC cracks is quite good EXCEPT for those disturbing effects

Oh; sounds like you want a shattered puzzle type of effect, right? :)

yes, Lyle.
I can follow your indication, create a texture and use it, but I would like also to hear from David whether the G'MIC Cracks behavior CAN be modified/amended or not.I don't know whether the "collateral" effect of the G'MIC filter I showed is wanted (or in any case unavoidable)

Filters -> Distorts -> Mosaic

thanks, yes, MareroQ, it's close, but I prefere the way in which the tiles are generated in Cracks.
"Mosaic" is very good for ... mosaics, looking for stained glass "Cracks" would generate more suitable tiles.
I hope Lyle is right and David will modify the G'MIC Cracks to avoid collateral effects.

dinasset, I've started the work on next version 1.7.5 of G'MIC, and I've introduced some new language syntax that breaks the compatibility with older versions.
Thus, I won't update filters anymore for previous versions.
I've already tried to improve the Mosaic and Cracks filters a little bit in the current developpement version 1.7.5_pre.
Could you please try to install it from the website (this is the default download link), and tell me if that is better ?

many thanks, David.
Installed the pre-release and tried.
New cracks do not show any more the collateral effect of small blurred areas:

the cracks are very subtle, and to get these outcomes I had to extract (via difference), duplicate and enlarge.
Whenever possible in the future, the addition of a parameter concerning the tickness of the lines could be useful.

Thanks a lot.
