Ok, the registration says to be sure to post a message -> so a little intro...
I am an exhibiting photographer (fine art: abstracts, landscapes, shorescapes, ...)
A Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away... I worked at Bell Labs on compilers, communications, networks and lots of middleware -- hence,
this is a *nix shop. Still have a number of MSWin systems in order to run the print drivers for the Canon Large Format (ipf/proxxxx) printers and PSP scripts. [But would >love< to see TurboPrint etc have a good driver for the Pro2000/4000/6000 series (the current Canon Win-only driver has been decimated from what drivers used to be)]
Current projects include - GIMP: Writing an interactive debugging wrapper to run python scripts as a menu item in gimp (<Image>/Image/runScript_). Writing a emulation 'layer'/module (aka App.py) to enable running PaintShop Pro scripts directly via runScript. The App module fully supports all of PSP's dialogues and extends the debugging/tracing capabilities associated with a PSP script output window. Would like to extend the interactive, single-step capability this brings to scripts to include single-stepping pdb facilities, but that is another world...
[background: I have a large number of 10K-plus line PSP scripts I use to develop and generate images for exhibiting/printing, for a web site, etc. Starting developing these back in the Dark Ages when I could not get gimp to run on RH9, PS was/is effectively un-scriptable, but PSP had a python interface to everything. Now, trying to ween everything away from MS-based systems/applications.]
OTHER: Web-site development - including my photography website. Built a new dataflow programming system (alternative to Backbone, React, Angular, Flux and the rest of the spaghetti) dflibg to support website development.
AhYup, major geek, au revoir, Chrys
