All-

Figured I'd drop a pointer a a set of filter wrapper I wrote a while back:

http://registry.gimp.org/node/14256

These provide seamless/tile-able versions of a bunch of handy filters that normally "break" a tile-able pattern.

Basically, it enlarger the layer to a 3x3 copy of the original image than runs the filter in interactive mode and crops it back down after, maintaining tile-ability. (thought this does slow the filter processing down as it is working on a much larger image)

IT adds the following:
Filters >Distorts >Tileable Emboss
Filters >Blur >Tileable Motion Blur
Filters >Distorts >Tileable Wind
Filters >Light and Shadow >Tileable Sparkle
Filters >Noise >Tileable Slur
Filters >Noise >Tileable Spread
Filters >Artistic >Tileable Cubism
Filters >Artistic >Tileable Oilify
Filters >Artistic >Tileable Photocopy
Filters >Artistic >Tileable Softglow

Thank you, RobA. Is it my understanding that the original image must be seamless for your filter to work?

So I can't just fill an image with plasma and run the tileable cubism filter on it?

OK, filled an image with plasma, made it seamless and ran the tileless cubism filter on it. Very nice!

Love the tileless spread.
