Hello folks,

I've been using GIMP for over a decade and have edited thousands of images and I've never had an issue like this.

I make a simple change - like View > Flip - to an image and export the image and my change just isn't there. I've tried overwriting the existing file upon export and also creating a new file. It doesn't matter if it's a JPG or a TIF. Even when I save the XCF file and re-open it, the change isn't there.

I uninstalled GIMP and re-installed the newest version. It didn't fix the problem. I even looked in Event Viewer to see if there is some error message being generated and there is nothing that I can tie to it. I've even tried saving to different hard drives.

Just to make sure there isn't something weird going on with permissions or whatnot, I used the built-in Windows picture viewer which has rudimentary editing capabilities. I flipped the image and saved it. It works just fine.

Since this problem is present with my old installation and the new installation, it's not some new required step that's been introduced that I'm overlooking.

Instead of uninstalling gimp and reinstalling try to make a new user file on your computer. Change the name to gimp old of your folder now.
Gimp will make a new one when it restarts. Try again. If you still have problems give us a couple of screen shots (preferably with the tool options and the dialog of when you export your file.
NOTE* you won't be able to post any pictures until you make 5 posts. (Introduce yourself in the introduce forum, answer a couple of posts etc.)

Make your changes to the layer not to the view.

Edit: Never mind now... the problem has been solved. It was my mistake.

I forgot that view doesn't affect the layer.
