My name is Dan I have 55 years, and I love the open-source atmosphere. I have been using Ubuntu for a while for fun, and recently for start, I tried to restoring b/w family photos with freeware program( I worked in my dark room as teen-ager); at work I must use wxp ... I downloaded some basics gimp tutorials, I found GimpTricks , MeetTheGimp and this forum. After one mounth, I think that is the right place for find some answers, and I hope that here i'll learn more about Gimp. At last but not least, English is the second language for me, so I make mistakes.
Small question : I use xpp for my work and ubuntu 10.04.3 for surfing on net, stable version of gimp 2.6.11 in ubuntu and XP; I treid to put gimp-2.7.4-portable32bit.exe on my USB flash but won’t work( I want to see gimp with single windows). Any suggestions ?
Thanks, :tyspin
Dan

Happy to see you here, Dan. Someone who is familiar with portable GIMP 2.7 will need to answer your question.

Welcome Dan, glad to have you aboard.
What gimp 2.7.4 did you download? Did you try the one in here?

Partha's version I have his regular version and it works very well. I also have 2.6.11 on the hard drive.

Dan,

Welcome.

If you use my version as Molly suggested, let us know if you have any issues either here or leave me feedback on the website.

I would definitely recommend Parthas Gimp builds for Portable.
Mainly because he includes Python embedded. So all you need do is add some python filter scripts ,and your all set.
Some are included in the build i believe also. :)
