Yeah, I hear that. There was a big issue when going from 2.2 to 2.4, especially with script-fu. I spent a good bit of time hacking old scripts to get them to work. The transition from 2.4 to 2.6 was smooth and 2.6 seems very stable and feature rich in Linux.

I certainly understand how Windows can be a bit temperamental at times, and how moving to 2.6 might be a bit of a headache in the Windows world.

How do you do this on other than text? I mean, it's not like you can type in a big circle, square or odd shape into the text box.

You can use dingbats fonts for all kinds of shapes but I think you are asking; "Where's the alpha to logo option?". I didn't get around to that but I'm thinking I'll add support in upcoming releases. There are some other loose ends to tie up in the scripts, as well.

Were you able to execute the new script in 2.4? If you get a chance, could you move the old script out and put the new script in and give it a test for me? I'm curious to know if the new one is functional in 2.4?

Thanks 2-ton!!

Yes the old one works fine...I'll go try the new one.

Yes, it works. The whole time it didn't seem to work it was just me not noticing the text box in the filter.

I just joined the Gimp chat forum and wanted to take a minute to Say thank you to the creator of the cool glass text effect . I'm fairly new to GIMP and I love it :gimp
Photography is a passion of mine and has been for some time . My budget didn't allow for the purchase of photoshop when I first began learning to edit my photo's . Now I actually own photoshop and the funny thing is . I'm so in love with Gimp I can't be bothered to learn it . CS 3 was given to me as a gift but Home is where your heart is and Gimp is home for me . Thanks for the glass text effect . I want you to know you have made my life so much easier . You see I've taken up the hobby of scrap booking and the hardest thing for me was finding word art that I can use without having to create it from scratch which is a laborious process . Thank you Thank you thank you !!!!!

Sincerely,
Toni Legates

:welcome to Gimp Chat. Wicked. I didn't dream up the effect but I'm glad you found the script useful.

Pull up a keyboard and join the discussions. I'm sure you'll like it here. :bigthup

Thanks on the font! I just downloaded it, and several others, for the coming holidays.

I notice that on the old script, the edges of the letters (or shapes) come up thinner. The new version has much harder/thicker edges. I went and put the old script in my scripts directory, but it isn't compatible. Does anyone else notice the harder edges?
