Useful Programs - FREE

#1
ZScreen
For taking quick screenshots and getting PNG URL.
Just Ctrl+Printscreen. Then Snippet screenshot. Wait about 5 seconds and it will get the PNG URL and copy it to your clipboard. It works with imgur.com but not for imageshack for me now because of changes.

OLDER VERSIONS LIKE 3 ARE BEST because the newer versions have removed some of the features.

#2
Flashnote
Store notes/text info.(A quick notes manager)
Icon sits in notification taskbar for quick access. Has Global search or just search the tab you are in.
Everything (character by character) is automatically saved.
Can add as many tabs as you want and rename them and reorder-(dragndrop).

I've been using Flashnote and it's really cool. Thanks for the link Bar.

Zscreen is a fantastic program BUT please don't download ANYTHING from cnet.com, they include their nasty adware/spyware to all the program on their side.
(it is a know issue that angered many freeware developers, Cnet.com instead then use the original installer repack each program (almost every..they don't dare do it to Adobe trialware, maybe in fear of Adobe lawyers and lobbist...)in a new installer to include a spyware toolbar and other adware crap that are paid to distribute.

It is true that you will get a option during install, to not install the spyware toolbar and the other crap, but the option is the less visible and the less clear possible

For get the real thing without adware and spyware better download from the Developer site
http://code.google.com/p/zscreen/

PS is always better download from the developer side but the other freeware sites are more serious and usually offer clean files (seldom updated as on the developers site , often 1 or 2 releases behind, but clean, without crapware added )

but be aware of cnet.com, one of the most old but of the less honest distributor of freeware
(that you may better get directly from the source)

Thanks for the warning PC. I'll avoid them in future.

Sorry but I have to disagree. I have used Cnet for my entire life on the web. Not once have I ever had an issue not seeing that junk (agree there). On top of that, if people learned to not just click through their installers there wouldn't be an issue. I scan each installer before I run it as it is, and still nothing has come up. I however agree that they shouldn't pack that in, but would you rather pay to use the site, or have them pack that it in and have to click once more?

antivirus will found nothing because is not a virus but a browser addon ..if i remember well is called "Babylon toolbar",

some anti-spyware (i.e. the good old and free spybot search &distroy) will detect it immediately but not the antirus because is not a virus, not even properly a trojan, just crapware stealing resources from your CPU to monitor what you do when surfing

the folk on cnet know well that is nagware so the cnet PRO users have as gift the option to download the clean file ..without have to carefully study the installers options to avoid it

more details...humm..as example here http://www.donationcoder.com/forum/inde ... ic=27720.0

the link is a side where developers hang on, if they say that cnet.com replaced their original installer to add crap you may well believe,( or at list go to the link to check)

i was not reporting rumors but a fact, and again i never talk of virus but of...not sure if legally could be called spyware (it is as function but is not a keylogger or a trojan) but for sure is crapware

so Zward...maybe do you want check if you have a babylon toolbar in your internet browser, and if that changed your home page and replaced google (or whatelse) as preferite search engine ?

Thankyou for all the feedback.

I think softpedia.com is a safe download site. They state they do not repack or modify.

Okay... it seems that the newest versions of ZScreen are not as good as the older version 3 which I had. The newer versions have removed some of the good features and will not upload to an imagehost but only upload to the clipboard.
ALL VERSIONS DOWNLOAD http://code.google.com/p/zscreen/downlo ... &q=ZSCREEN

But ZUploader is even better in some ways because it is much faster and sometimes instant at uploading screenshots to imageshack and retrieving the png url. You get more shapes to carve your screenshot with: Freehand,Rounded Rectangle,Triangle, Diamond,Polygon. Really cool.
ZUploader Download http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/O ... ader.shtml

ShareX Program is next generation. It will add shadowing around the screenshots bordering.

I am hoping that others will recommend helpful useful Programs here in this thread for all of us. Especially Programs that are helpful with using Gimp or the forums.
