GIMP Splashes

Here is one i was going to enter into the drawing for Gimp-2.8
However i was too late on submission.I may revamp it for Gimp-2.10 though.

The entire splash was created in Gimp-2.6.12.Sadly when Windows died it took all my XCF workspace files with it.
I think i remember most of the steps though.

I always did like that one Rod. I remember when you posted it the first time. Hope you get your groove on again and make some more.

@Wallace
i already asked but i believe you overlook that message

I was asking your permission to use your Splash for the next version of GIMP-PC_Lab (see news)
Not sure which one ...i can even create a splash folder to use more then one

GIMP_PC_Lab allow to load in "No_extra" mode and in PC_Lab mode that at the contrary include a lot of extra
And from the incoming version each mode will start with a different splash

If you agree i will use for the "No-extra" mode, (the other should have a different name : GIMP-PhotoComix_Lab-2.8.2 and Wilbress instead then Wilber)

@PhotoComix

Yes your right, I didn't see your original massage.
It's for your own privet use, is this correct? If so... sure you can use them.
All I ask is that you don't redistribute them as your own images, or anything like that.
I made them strictly for personal/privet use, not to be sold or redistributed in any way.
As long as you agree to this you can freely use them.
Thanks for having the decency to ask, I really appreciate this. :bigthup

@PhotoComix
Sorry for missing your massage.
You can find all the GIMP splash screens I've made in my,
"Gimp Splash Screens" gallery folder at my "deviantArt" account here... http://geosammy.deviantart.com/gallery/39561715

I'll be creating more, so if your interested keep on the lookout for them on deviantArt.

@ nzdawghaus,

Looks really cool, the second one has a very crisp looking appearance to it.

Nice work! :bigthup

@Esper,
Thanks a lot... :bigthup

No, I used this 3-D text script: http://registry.gimp.org/node/24671, and played with the settings a lot.

oh, i have that installed as well

especially like how you used textures on the 3D extrusion

just had another look at the pictures with the bubbles, that awesome as well, minus the jagged edges at the text

i tried to add some bubbles as a background to a text in a sprayer style yesterday, but couldnt get it right
two pictures with the style im talking about, in case you are curious what it looks like

@Esper,

Your bubbles look more "vector" like. I'm guessing that was intended, but it looks good. :bigthup

Wallace · **Posted:** Thu Sep 20, 2012 9:22 pm **(#80)**

@Esper,

I didn't use a texture on the text.
It's a combination of color "Curves" and the "Posterize" effect on the 3-D layer created by the 3-D script.
