It's Time To Celebrate The 2nd Annual International GIMP Day

The announcement of first beta release of "The GIMP" (later renamed to simply GIMP) was posted to several Usenet groups way back on November 21, 1995. GIMP has came a long way since then and I'm looking forward to what the future holds for this indispensable open source app.

A big thanks goes out to Spencer Kimball & Peter Mattis for bringing us a great FOSS package.

It's certainly come a long way. I found some very old screenshots. Only the first three screenshots on the first link work, though.

It's too bad I can't get the contest page to load. One thing that has changed is the scale of the projects. No 6000 x 6000 images in 1998
