Hello GimpChat,

I'm french, living near Paris, I have 36 years, father of two childrens.
I have become a sedulous reader of GimpChat since few weeks, after finding that Google sent me regularly here during my search on Gimp.
I have visited several Gimp websites and I can confirm that it is one of the best place to perfect and motivate the creativity of the Gimp users, even for beginners like me.
There is always something to read, to test and to learn here, the profiles of members are so different, the interests and aspirations of everybody with your creations have seduced me.
I would like to find an equivalent website in french, as active, but it does not matter, it will allow me to improve my english.

I can say that I had a strange relation with Gimp, I discovered it many years ago in 2.4 version, at the time I have not been seduced with Gimp, I found limited and not necessarily intuitive. We are separated by mutual agreement ;) .
The years have passed and I have rediscovered it in version 2.6.11 for a professional use, I relearned the basics and I went smoothly on version 2.8.
Today I am aware that I should not settle for the basic version of Gimp, it is imperative to add extensions even if sometimes I lose too much time to install them rather than follow the tutorials.
I’m like a child when seeing all possibilities and the enormous potential of Gimp, sometimes I'm disappointed and frustrated to fight to install them and ultimately end by a failure, before to start really playing with Gimp.

steeno: bienvenu à gimp chat! i recognize that frustration when you need a special script or plug-in to complete some gimp project and it just won't work - that happens to me too many times.

I like the name Oregonian. Are you somehow related to Oregon? :)

I'm ashamed to say that my first exposure to the word "Oregonian" was this.

That's a very informative article Ofnuts. Thanks for sharing that. I think I spewed my morning coffee across the table at a cat.

It means I am an Oregonian and that means that I live in the State of Oregon in the US. :)

Start with the basics. Nobody can fly without going through crawling, walking, jogging and running.
