he4rty: it is a lovely colour and yes, it has the best shimmer of these three.

Still playing and tweaking, got some good results running the lomo filter and by making the top of the text flatish.

Making the text smooth on top as though it is really being pushed into the satin, so only the side have and folds.

Just for you Esper, I've ran the unsharp mask filter with settings similar to what you used on page 1 of this thread, I then ran a very subtle selective Gaussian Blurr just to try and clean up some of the cloth artifacts from the sharpen.

he4rty: that last one looks really good! the satin shimmer comes out a lot better than in the one above. how do you make the text "flatish" on top?

Basically to displace the text I used the addition filter bevel, with settings set to outside, therefore all I had to do was use the colour picker on the displaced satin to pick the average colour then using a feathered selection from my original text layer just fill that area.
it all seem to work ok.

When I get something I'm happy with I'll maybe post a tutorial, like the sharpen as it does lift the cloth but not 100% sold on it yet.

So after playing some more have realised that the sharpen filter works because it boosts the shadows and highlights but does leave a very grainy image, so how to boost the image without the grain effect?

Still playing, went right back to the beginning and started from scratch, pleased so far.

Still needed more shine, eventually managed to achieve it.

Text blended with blurred G'MIC skeleton as displacement map for a 150% bigger sized pattern that I posted earlier (the world's smallest pattern; lol) :)

hearty: yay!!! :hi5 you've really got it looking natural now - even i couldn't complain on the look of that satin and it really looks draped over the letters.

No scripts, once I'm happy it all works and is repeatable then a tutorial may follow.
