Hello,
I still can't find the filter either. I'm using Gimp 2.8.10 and the latest G'MIC 1.5.8.2 (both 64 bit compilation), but upon refresh the filter still doesn't show up...
Though, it's another great filter and I hope it will come back!!!
Thanks for the work!

Thanks David, I well know the hazards of working just before bed! The filter's back for me on Win 64 with the latest GIMP and G'MIC.

maybe this is just a wild dream, but i would love to have this g'mic filter work on a selection and have the option to make the outer (blurred) frame follow the shape of the inner (bordered) frame or not, as i choose. the goal would be to make images like these:

oh that is one of my wish, you explain well with examples,
the other was a option to round the corners...oh yes there is the option already i am talking to apply also to other polygonal or star-shaped frames not only to rectangular frames

and the last wish was a option to use instead then "simple" blur, motion blur to project to the pixels to the periphery of the image to the periphery of the frames , in few words use motion blur for a sort of stretch pixel effect that i am sure would look nice , even more if could be faded (faded to black , it would look as a vignette effect over the pixel strecth, or fade to transparency or chosen color )

Sounds like a great idea Anmal

This is my favorite frame :). It's very flexible but there's one option I either cannot find or it's just not there: I'm looking for a way to control the shadow, get rid of it or change its opacity from 100 to 0% /seamless - in some use cases it looks better without shadow or with a lighter shadow - or with a shadow in a different color.

Change x and y centering to 0 value. :)

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

Oh boy, thanks, I thought it would be something that easy ;). I always moved the sliders to very left for 0 without taking a look at the values...
But it only works if you also set the shadow smoothness to 0.

Love the results of your effect! Nicely done. :)

Thanks :).

Now I have another question regarding this filter: Is there a way to control the size of the canvas/blurred background using absolute dimensions? I'd love to set something like 800x800 or 1920x1080 instead of %. The % method fits for the pictures that don't require a certain size but if I want to create a wallpaper or some square instragram like image I have to always guess, try and most likely rescale and/or crop afterwards.

Is there a trick or another option I once more don't see? If not maybe it could be added as an option?

I don't know whether David would be willing to add this option to the filter; in the meanwhile you have the obvious possibility to re-size/crop your image to a value equal to the desired output size multiplied by 1/(1+0.xx) where xx is the percentage of the frame, for example: if you have an image 1000*1000 but you want to have the FINAL IMAGE WITH THE FRAME 25% to be 1000*1000 you have to re-scale it by 1/1.25, alias 0.8; with the starting image being 800*800 the final image with a frame 25% will be 1000*1000
but maybe David will add the option you like, which is easier of course

Thanks for your answer. Math when not done by a program somehow hinders my creative workflow ;). Ok, then I stick with the "obvious possibility" :).

If you're going to be doing this a lot, it would be easy enough to adapt the standard G'MIC filter to take size parameters in pixels, but it would then be a bespoke filter, stored in your personal .gmic file and it may well get "broken" by any future updates to G'MIC.

I think for most people the way it's currently done (in percentage terms) is more useful and intuitive.
