These are my two cats getting entertained several times a day by the chippy. It is driving them crazy cuz they can't get at it. Sometimes they are nose to nose through the screen.

Funny photo anyway.

That's cute. I assume Chippy is a chipmunk. Kind of hard to tell. Thanks for sharing, Molly.

Sorry he4rty no fish&chips but we do have a fish&chip shop here to die for, strictly take-out, brown bag and rolled in a newspaper.

It cost my sister $1200 because her cat ate a chipmunk whole and it would get out of it's gut (no joke). Cat's will eat chipmunks but it may not be healthy for them. :)

OMG, A long time ago I had a cat that caught a chippy and I felt sorry for the chippy and took it away from the cat, the chippy bit me so I gave it back to the cat.

you should just open the door and take a video of the race for the fences :lol
or would your cats jump it? I know my dog loved to chase the squirrels and assorted animals that would arrive on our porch from time to time

Then I would be running after the cats. I don't let them out cuz I don't want to go looking for them or have them pooping in my flowers.

When i was 14 we had a closed in porch with two pet chipmunks my Dad caught in one of those old coned minnow traps. Couple pieces of bread and they went right in there.
Anyways one year they got off the porch and into the living room and down the register ducts. My brother stuck his hand down there and Dale ( yes they were named Dale and Chip..no lie) bit his knuckle and held right on. One way to catch them again. :lol
The other i coaxed out with a Popsicle ...they LOVE Popsicles Molly. :)
You should put them (the cats), on a leash and let them out hooked to something in the house. Bet that chipmunk won't come back after that. Well unless you have a Popsicle. :hehe

Off Topic-
Oh yeah peanut butter works on all kinds of snares and traps. That is what i always use for my snap wire mouse traps.Works every time. Great for any survival situation also. I carry 2-3 small single serve packets in my back pack. I haven't seen a small edible critter that doesn't like the taste of peanut butter yet.It is very difficult for survival food to get the sticky stuff off any type of stick traps or 110 conibears. Or figure 4 dead-fall setups and the like.

However if you just want a cheap live trap to catch and release elsewhere -
I found that if you cook some microwave popcorn, and leave the empty bag on the counter or a piece of flat rock or wood plank, they (mice), will crawl right in there and sometimes the bag will pop up and they are stuck.
This would probably work for chipmunks as well. :lol
Something about that theater butter popcorn they just love. :)

Well, when I got up this morning, a very large brown rabbit was out in my vegetable patch chomping down my yellow waxed beans. I ran out in my pj's and chased him away and saw that half my beans are stripped of leaves.
We have a live trap we made especially for rabbits so we set it in the middle of my garden this morning and if we catch him, off he goes over to the parks conservation area, which isn't very far away.
I put celery and a carrot in there, Dam...this is my last year for a garden, except for tomatoes which they don't seem to touch.

My Dad used to plant Marigolds around his entire garden. That kept them all out (including aphids). Except the deer. :)
They loved his strawberries. Even placing screen mesh over them didn't help. Those deer are quite smart.

I also have marigolds around my garden, doesn't work. The bugs eat all the leaves and a very small percent of them reach the point where they actually produce flowers. The rabbits just step over them and chomp away at the beans. I will have to go out and take some pics of what the bugs do to them every year. Never had that problem with any other place we lived.
taken 5 mins ago. pics of bug eaten marigolds, rabbit stripped beans and live trap.

Strange.
My Dad would plant them every 6 inches or so. Always worked for him.
Maybe the rabbits were of a different breed?

Very nice looking garden, and a nice trap. Nature's critters are going to want to eat though.

Why not just put a wire fence around (about the height you can step over) it worked well for my grandpa
