Drop Shadow Advanced - Gimp-2.8 required

Pretty nice effect.

This was ran on white text with a GC color bg.

I did however change the menu position in the filter i have installed from Layer>Drop Shadow Advanced> TO
Light and Shadows>Drop Shadow Advanced>

This uses GROUPS so Gimp-2.8 is required.

yeah Rod, the position does not make much sense

i dont know about this filter, i think it makes a lot of "noise" for not much of an effect (all those options)
isnt it just a dropshadow made of two layers with different blur values ?

pretty names though (Penumbra)

its pretty much what i did with layered glows in my Tronic tutorial just "inverted"

here's the script in action with the default settings
too much shadow to my taste

i hid two bottom shadow layers in layergroup (penumbra and veil)
looks much better, IMO.

I always duplicate a layer that I want a drop shadow for and use G-blur. :X

:Dislikes it does not work properly within layer groups as it creates a new layer group without looking for the existence of an existing one or if one even exists, It can create a group for the 3 shadows but not to place the existing layer in it

The final effect I'm seeing just looks like a combination of shadow and glow. Maybe I'm missing something though.
