Well, I am surprised! My notebook is beaving itself under W10 - no problems whatsoever and that is a surprise.

I have tried to get my reserved W10 copy for my main PC but Microsoft keep saying 'please wait until you are notified, we are still honing W10 for your PC'.

If you're not willing to wait for MS to give up your "reserved" copy of win 10. There are ways to force the win 10 install.

Good Luck sallyanne. Image
Be sure to check out all your "Privacy" settings once it's installed. ;)
Also, I've heard... that creating a Local Account is better for any privacy concerns you my have, then an account created that's linked to any MS Account.

Once they pushed the latest update a few days ago, my mouse now works after reboot (use to have to unplug then plug back in the receiver module for my logitech prior except if I powered up from off; no issue then). Still, Virtualbox is unstable after wake up from hibernate or after reboot (not from power off and back on) so not happy about that part. Still, even from power off to on, I have to wait until the OS settles down before running VB or I still can get an instability situation. VB has crashed my OS several times now; know what I need to do to get it to work (running in compatibility mode isn't a solution either). Sound in VB doesn't work either until after a few hours (very strange behavior). Many folks have posted at VB's site this issue (no sound); hopefully it will soon get resolved. As for Win10 itself, sound works great. It's even more spiffier then Win8.1 was (wasn't in the beginning; as I continued to run the OS, it got better and faster. Now my boot from power down is nearly instant (around 10s anyway). :)

Not sure about your sound issue Sallyanne. Try to right-click on your notifications icon (in the tray) and click open actions center and then, once launched, click updates. Manually check for updates and if you need to, re-boot. Also, while your action center is open, check to see if your driver settings are correct. If you are using standard speakers, make sure you don't have the optical interface enabled for instance. Also, if you do see your sound icon in the tray, right-click on it and choose troubleshoot sound issues. :)

Just found out that you can play solitaire as a guest too and not signed in to a Microsoft account. Although Maybe this is just while you are online.

Thankfully I haven't had any kind of sound issues with win 10. I'm glad you got your sound up and running Sallyanne.

As for accounts... an account that doesn't use a MS sign in and or linked email address, is considered a local account.
It's said that a local account, (an account that is not linked to any MS sign in/account) limits the amount and kinds of data that MS my collect from your computer. Which is directly linked to your Privacy settings while using a MS account or linked sign in account when on windows 10.

In short, when creating an account, if you're asked for an email address in order to create an account, this isn't a local account. A local account is created without giving any kind of email address for the account. Windows may complain that this is not recommended, but this type of account can be created anyway.

My 'start keyboard button' and icon are now inactive, as is my 'store' icon (I deleted my Microsoft Edge start icon), and do not know how to put it back

Started my laptop up Monday morning to do a couple things before I went to work and closed lid before I left home. Should have gone into hibernate mode or sleep. Did neither. When I open the lid it said it would not shut down because an app was stopping it. Gave me the option to Shut down anyhow and of course I clicked on it.
All night last night and this morning it was still in shutting down mode. I was able to turn the power off and shut it down that way? but when I turned it back on it would go to the windows screen and ask for a password then back in the shutting down mode again.

I read on a microsoft facebook page where someone mention to press on F10 if you are stuck. And I am back online!

Looks to me that microsoft is using all the people who downloaded the free upgrade as guinea pigs to find their bugs.

Remember the F10 button. I dont know what it did but am I relieved.

On some PC's F10 will usually bring you into the Bios setup. Not sure what happened with your laptop.
I would have disconnected the battery and then tried to start up windows.

That's what I was thinking too, because I haven't found a way to delete any of the tiles in win 10's start menu.

There isn't a Delete option available when you right click on a tile.
