After reinstalling win 10 all is OK (for now), my start and store icons are functioning again,
Note! take care when removing Microsoft Edge from task bar

Same as with the task bar. You can unpin. I have noticed that you can uninstall somewhere though...Cant see where now. I'm sure it was the start bar or task. A couple of things I knew I wouldn't need so got rid of them.

Yes, I do believe you're correct Sallyanne. I can recall uninstalling a few of my apps by right clicking on them and selecting uninstall. However I do think that some of the apps don't provide a uninstall option when you right click on them.

That's cool. :bigthup

I was going to suggest you check out this article, Reinstall default build-in Windows 10 apps, so here's the link nonetheless... https://thomas.vanhoutte.be/miniblog/re ... s-10-apps/

My question is can we get a copy once installed so I can reinstall as a clean install as and when needed?

If your computer still runs Windows 7 or 8, you want to avoid upgrading using Windows Update. Instead make yourself a Windows 10 installation media.

You can create a Windows 10 installation media using a USB Flash drive (thumb drive). I would suggest using the Flash drive method, you'll need a USB Flash drive that's 3GB or larger.
You can also burn the ISO file to a DVD Later if you wish to create a DVD installation media.

Download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft, there's a 32-bit and 64-bit versions, depending on which Windows architecture you need to install.

Run the downloaded Media Creation Tool, choose Create installation media for another PC.

Select the Language, Edition and Architecture you'll be using for Windows 10.

Note: Windows 10 Home is for computers currently running Windows 7 Home or Windows 8. If you choose to upgrade the Home version of previous Windows to Windows 10 Pro (which you can only upgrade to from Windows 7/8 Pro or Ultimate,) you'll have to pay for the license. The N version of Windows 10 is for some European markets and will not include Windows Media Player.

Select the USB Flash drive you wish to install Windows 10 on.

Note: Be sure to insert the Flash drive before running the Media Creation Tool.

After the Flash drive is selected and you click Next, the tool will start downloading Windows 10.
Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, the download can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours. Once the download is done, the tool will takes another few minutes to turn the flash drive into a Windows 10 installation media.
You then can use this flash drive to upgrade or install Windows 10 on any computer.

Started my laptop up Monday morning to do a couple things before I went to work and closed lid before I left home. Should have gone into hibernate mode or sleep. Did neither. When I open the lid it said it would not shut down because an app was stopping it. Gave me the option to Shut down anyhow and of course I clicked on it.
All night last night and this morning it was still in shutting down mode. I was able to turn the power off and shut it down that way? but when I turned it back on it would go to the windows screen and ask for a password then back in the shutting down mode again.

I read on a microsoft facebook page where someone mention to press on F10 if you are stuck. And I am back online!

Looks to me that microsoft is using all the people who downloaded the free upgrade as guinea pigs to find their bugs.

Remember the F10 button. I dont know what it did but am I relieved.

Remember, under Win 10, microsoft is using your computer to load win 10 on everyone else's computer. This coule be what was running.

If you wish to burn the iso file to a DVD. The Media Creation Tool can also guides you through the creation of the DVD media as well. It's a slightly different task which also involves the download of the iso file, file preparation and then the disk burning, along with a disk file vitrification.
I burned my own Windows 10 iso disk and it took about 20 minutes, form start to completion.
You shouldn't have any issues creating your win 10 media, but let us know if you run into any difficulties and good luck.

That's odd, because I haven't a clue what that is? I have nothing called "ENG" that I'm aware of?
Do you think this could have anything to do with your langues settings or location??
I haven't seen this before?

You can also download CDBurnerXP. Works great even in Win10. I just burnt a DVD the other day (repair DVD for Win10) using CDBurnerXP. It's free too. I've been using CDBurnerXP since at least 2006. Obviously, it was originally developed for XP but it works on all platforms from XP on up as far as Widows systems are concerned.

You might want to reconsider removing the EN notification.
It will signify that you have alternative languages/ keyboard layouts available.

If you do want to remove it, click -> preferences -> remove surplus languages.

I installed windows 10 last night on my second hard drive and I started it at 6:00 pm and finished downloading at 7:00 pm. At 7:40 the install started and finished at 8:10
The whole operation went without a hitch and it also did away with the windows boot manager so now my windows goes straight in when I boot. It is looking good. Even though I prefer the Windows 7, I guess it is best to keep up with the new updates. It will take some getting used to. I will still stick to my Fedora :pengy

for 95% of the time though.

Kudos Molly. Now that they pushed out a few more updates since the initial release, my system's now pretty darn rock stable. Mouse now works upon wake up from sleep or hibernate, Virtualbox no longer crashes my OS (am currently using the 1.0.1 beta though, but even that wasn't good enough. The updates from M$ definitely helped), and I even now can here sound in my VMs. lolol

Not sure why folks are complaining so much about Win10. It's been one of the smoothest upgrades and initial releases M$ ever did. They also promised that there won't be anymore windows versions (we shall see; lol). Still, it's much nicer then Win8.1 was for me anyway so no complaints here. As for privacy, why do you think I use VMs to spiel my thoughts with you all in the first place. lolol

Tell me plz

I would advise/suggest, that you check all your Privacy Settings thoroughly. To ensure that things are to your liking.

If you're interested, there are quite a few

videos on the subject. When you're there, search for Windows 10 Privacy Settings and you're sure to find them.

It seems that Windows 10 is trying to force its way on to my laptop even though the updates have failed and I haven't even downloaded it. I like windows 7 and the only way, I plan on changing to windows 10 is if I get a new laptop.
