I hope this is the right way to ask a question in this forum.

I have two images I want to stick together side-by-side against a black background. I would like the two images to "blend" into each other, like they are one image blending into the next, not two separate disjointed images with an obvious line between the two. I have tried the paintbrush, airbrush, smudge, to blend the border manually, but it looks obvious or else nothing happens at all. Does Gimp have any tool that will do this? The images are not complicated.

Please understand that any instructions have to be recited pretty much like you are talking to a two year old for me to have a chance at comprehension. Thanks!
