I have prepared a a git build dmg under MacOS 10.11 El Capitan. It is a dmg similar to Yosemite, still without zart (qt5 problems).

Actually I have no access to MacOS 10.9 Mavericks and older. I would appreciate if users could test if this build is functional for the older OS versions.

gmic_gimp plugin is linked against Gimp app from GimponOSX as usual.

Download El Capitan build of gmic dmg

Well, I gave it a valiant try with El Cap and can't get it to work.
Somewhere a few weeks ago I lost the use of G'mic and can't get it back lately.
Have tried it in 2.8 and 2.9 and it does not appear. (yes I load something 1st)
I know where it's supposed to go i.e.; myName/Library/Application Support/Gimp/2.8/plugins
also, tell gimp in gimp prefs/Folders plugins, it's location.
Tried it in the 2.9 version too.
Just can't get it.
Any ideas out there ?

Hmm, download Gimp from gimp.lisanet.de, for el capitan the yosemite version. Any other Gimp build will fail with this plugin!

Ahhh, now i'm back in business !
I followed your instructions and d'loaded from the 'lisanet' location and it seems to be working just fine now.
G'Mic shows version 1.6.0.0 which is the highest version I have seen, ever.
Thank You, Thank You, so very much.

It's amazing how far Gimp has come in the last couple years and now with G'Mic, the icing on the cake !!
I'll be watching the Met Game tonight (AmericanBaseball) but will be gimping away on the side.
cheers!!

I'm using Win 10 64bit and running version 1.6.5.2 of G'MIC with Gimp 2.8.14?
:puzzled

Edit
I just went to the G'MIC site and downloaded and installed the latest G'MIC stable version 1.6.6.1

Thanks Wallace, but I went to the g'mac site and the 1.6.6.1 appears to be for OS X 10.10 and El Cap would need a 10.11 version ? right ?

The link for El Capitan build is given in my first post. If the plugin is copied correctly the version has to be 1.6.6.2 prerelease, NOT 1.6.6.0!

You have to find out where the 1.6.6.0 plugin comes from or where it is located (plugins folder!).

By the way I think the Yosemite build is usable for El Capitan too. I tried the El Capitan build to ensure the functionality of the plugin for the older OS versions! I have actually only 10.10 and 10.11 not the others!

As far as there are no claims or failures from users with older OS I will move over to 10.11!

Wallace, by the way, it is recommended to use the latest gmic versions, actually 1.6.6.2 pre. They are quite stable. Only for problems you should use the stable version.

@ karo04de, No, in my post above I reported that the G’Mic that is showing up with your El Cap version, (and BTW is working nicely ) is 1.6.0.0, not as you said 1.6.6.0.

The 1.6.0.0 version that I have (actually the gmic_gimp) is dated 10/12/15 7:46AM.
So, it’s still pretty new, it seems.

anyway, not much time now, but I will dig deeper on this and try to get the 1.6.6.2 version found and installed.

Thanks again, will report back again soon.

I don't know anything about G'MIC for Linux, or Mac.
I guess I'm out of the loop with this thread.

Ahh, success, I finally got it installed.
Now I have 1.6.6.2 [pre-release #101215] - Mac OS 64 bits
BTW why does the DMG often have 2 versions in it ?
I used the second one which seemed to work.
So, thanks again there.

Partha normally includes the latest G'MIC builds in McGimp versions for MAC.

Gangle: The plugin version in folder X is build with display on. This version needs an installation of XQuartz (X11) for the interactive Gimp functions on your machine.

Rod: That is true. I am using the Gimp from GimponOSX, I have no build environment for Parthas build. If Partha would prepare in-time the latest (pre-)releases of gmic_gimp plugin, I would immediately stop this building task!

By the way, the plugin is only a friendly addition for interested Gimper! I am mostly using the cli version in my work!

I just tried to replace my McGimp gmic_gimp file (1.6.0.5) with the newest one (1.6.5.0) from Partha's Place, but it won't replace! Any clue as to how to do this? I am stuck with 414 filters and cannot update. At least I did find the path, after more than an hour of searching, but when I tried to drag in the new mic from Partha's Place, it just disappeared. I figured I would have two, and could then trash the old one but no dice.

Sorry, for delay! I hope the problem is already solved.

The plugin from Partha can only run with the Gimp from Partha! Any error, missing library etc. will let the plugin disappear from the filter list. The Mac Gimp constructs are quite sensitive...
