After several hours of frustration, googling, forum reading and hair pulling, I'm coming here officially to post

What I’ve done so far:

- Installed xquartz 2.7.8 (org-server 1.16.4)
- Clean download of Gimp 2.8.16 (2015-11-21) for Max OS X and install - no issues
- Downloaded “macmic 1.6.9. macosx 64-Yosemite.dmg” from karo03.bplaced.de/gmic/rel/ (also tried ver 1.6.8)
- Put the gmic_gimp file in the /Users/Eagle/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.8/plug-ins folder (I have also tried putting it in /Applications/GIMP.app/Contents/Resources/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins area) - both of these areas are listed under the plug-ins under folders in preferences in gimp (imgur - sTgm2V8)
- Restarted Gimp
- For a brief second when it is loading, it appears to show (imgur - t6aTd4q)
- In Gimp, all that is under the “Filter” menu is imgur - jWkHhRQ

- My mac details - imgur - UsnT8Pw

So, what am I doing wrong?

Solution is to download Gimp on OS X from gimp.lisanet.de and then update the gmic_gimp file in the plugin folder in gimp.app.

Will this be updated for GiMP 2.8.16? 2.8.16 seems to load faster than 2.8.14 but G'Mic does not seem to want to be installed or work with it even though I have tried putting the file in the folder.

I have 2.8.14 with G'Mic functioning but it seems to stall out and not complete the task. I have some great maps that would look amazing if it would just finish the task at hand. I have an OSX computer with Yosemite as the OS as well.

You should ask the provider of http://gimp.lisanet.de/Website/News/News.html. I don't build Gimp by myself.

The plugin is only a piece of sugar, I am mostly using the cli version! There is still the complete Gimp alternative from Partha with the gmic plugin, see gmic download page, but without the cli version.
