Not showing a result, but did find out that if you stroke with pencil instead of brush, you not only get a cleaner dot to skeletonize, but, you don't have to do the dither step either. Maybe Diego can use stroke pencil if he's indeed not doing so already. :)

I don't think there is a choice, using the "stroke" feature in a script: maybe it's Gimp which is clever enough to use pencil for vectors.
