Good job, Issabella.
I played a bit on your first image with a post-processing step (which somehow can be applied where colors are too "stressed")
1-taken your outcome
2-duplicated
3-desaturated
4-added a mask
5-applied on the mask a gradient linear top down
Here the PP outcome

Thanks Pat.
Have you tried also to combine both?
PseudoHDR over the Original in SOFTLIGHT_MODE?
Not bad at all if you like color contrast (I like it). A "collateral" possibility....

Of course it depends also on the monitor used

G'MICs Tone Enhancer 2 (by garagecoder) plus Gimp levels gives this.

Thanks.
Double-checked just now.
Run it on an image using defaults: no errors. (Maybe some other one can try it).
It could be an incompatibility of your version of G'MIC, because this one is the only point in the filter where G'mic is used.
I will provide soon a version without G'mic.
In the meantime check your G'mic installation.

My version of G'MIC is 1.7.9. It works on default settings. The error comes in when you say yes to Denoise Final Out come? (good for people)
