Skinnyhouse, I am a little bit confused. Is the joined up text and metallic text all one script now? I'm not sure exactly what scripts I need along with the ones you had as an addition for the joined up text. I am afraid my attention span is getting short in my old age!

After seeing the quality of the work you have done recently - I don't believe a word of it Pat.

The filters are quite separate beasts.

The new joined-up text filter joins text up along a path now - if one is available: If there is no path in the image it will output the joined text as one line (as in the older versions). If you have more than one path added to an image make sure that you have the one you really want to use selected as the current active path by clicking on it (to highlight it).

You can use the new metallic text filter within any image you want now - it will apply the metallic effect to the currently selected layer. It will use the current selection, if one is available, or make its own selection from the outline of the layer and use that to create the effect. If you want to use it to create metallic text captions (as in earlier versions) simply make an empty layer active (or create a new empty layer) and it will add the text as you have specified in the filter dialog.

If I want some joined-up, metallic text now, I basically use the joined up filter to create my text along a path and then select that layer to use the metallic filter on that layer. I don't have to copy and paste between images so my work-flow (such as it is) is quicker.

Still at sea? If you want help-sheet with images - I'm sure I can cobble some stuff together for you.

Awesome is a much, much used word but your dragon is surely full of awe!

Ella Louise:
Your version of Joined-Up looks like 1.03ish - I'm on version 2.00. Here is a link to the latest published version.
It includes all the necessary fonts. Download it, archive your old version (or delete it) and install the new plugin in your plugin folder and put the fonts into your user fonts folder. Then you can have even more fun!

Link to Version 2.00 Joined-Up Text filter download.

Edit: Oh and the new version dialog is much longer so you will need to be able to make it scroll to access the OK button. If you haven't got anything for scrolling python plugins here are some links to various options:

This one from Jazzon. Post #1:

and this one from Bytes and Pixels via Rod. Post #10:

Ella Louise:

Just editied Post#27 to add links to downloads for long dialog boxes for python scripts like mine.

Pat625:

No pressure to make use of the Pat Sheets Pat. You're such a busy bee on all the Gimp sites, I don't know how you manage them all.

The download for long dialog boxes I already had, Skinnyhouse. But thanks anyway.
Made a combination of all things, but most Joined-up text and metallic texts.
