Hey everyone! I'm back. :) I finally have a new laptop. Another HP. My Dad surprised me with it and it arrived in the mail on 3/13 and I'm liking it so far. The only downside to my laptop is that it doesn't have a backlit keyboard. It's an HP 15-bs048cl model. It runs on Windows 10 and has 1 TB HD, 12 GB memory and it's a Core i3 7th generation laptop. Not really sure if it can run programs like gimp, or a video editing software but it is HD and the resolution is 1366 x 768.

Thanks, Tas_mania. :) Now I wonder what video editor to get. I had Sony Vegas Movie studio versions 11 and 13. Not sure if they will run on Windows 10 though. As for Gimp, I wish I had PCMover so that I can move gimp from my old PC to my new one.

You can copy your Gimp User folder,
form the old pc to a flash drive.
Install Gimp on your new PC,
then add the Gimp User folder to your Windows user folder.

If I try that, I hope my old PC will turn on. It's kind of dead.

You might want to consider making backup's on your new pc.
Of any data you feel is important.
I make 3 different backup's of my entire system every week.
There's no excuse for not backing up your computers data.

Welcome back mackenzieh. Best of luck with your laptop. You should have no trouble with Gimp on that. Mine was large - screen wise and you have much more RAM than I had.
Got myself an even better pc now and hope it doesn't start failing me like my laptop did but I think I only had 4GB RAM on it.

Wallace, I managed to turn on my old laptop that ran on Windows 7. Where would I find the Gimp User Folder?

mackenzieh it should be in your user folder. 'Gimp 2'. (Mine is gimp 2.8)
If you look in there you will see different folders and after looking at each will realize most of the stuff there is what you have added.

Sallyanne is correct.

If you have GIMP installed on your C drive.
It should be located inside the
"C:\Users\Your User Name\Your Gimp Version" folder.

Thanks Wallace & Sallyanne. Do I copy the entire 'Gimp 2' folder to the drive or the '.gimp-2.8' folder?

Yes.
Copy and paste your Gimp folder form the old computer,
to the new computer,
into "C:\Users\Your User Name" folder.
However,
If there is already a Gimp User folder there,
you'll need to name it something different form the previous one.
If you don't rename it.
You will be asked by Windows if you want to replace it,
with the previous Gimp User folder.

I think I'll wait for the release of Gimp 2.9. I don't mind starting fresh.
