Thanks doron.
Since a few months I'm used to download the complete portable samj's release of Gimp, which includes Gmic.
She is so nice that every week there is an update, and everything is tested and works.

Hi Dinasset

I think I will make the same process and work with the complete portable samj's release of Gimp.

Thanks
Doron.

OK so I've installed the Gimp which looks so promising. Can someone spell out exactly where we are with GMIC for Windows. Is there a link to a version I can download and use. Thanks all.

This is the link for download G'mic plugin.

http://gmic.eu/download.shtml

I usually download the ZIP file and then unzip the file.
After the unzip, I copy the unzipped files to the plugins folder.

Doron.

If you download/install the portable version of 2.10 either from samj or from partha, G'MIC is included.

Copy it or move it to anywhere on your harddrive where you can find it easily. I created a folder in Documents called "Portable Software" and I use that for all my portables. Then you can simply right click the exe and create a shortcut on the desktop if you wish.

A "portable" version is a version that is self contained. It runs on its own and does not install itself on your system. This gives you the ability to load it on a thumb drive and you are able to run the program on other windows computers from that drive.

It also has the benefit of not affecting any previous versions of the program on your computer. If you have an old version of GIMP installed on your computer, you will still have it there after you run the portable version.
