So far, I've noticed that color to alpha, and, small tiles are missing. Anyone else notice any missing GIMP plugins? :)

Hello Lyle,

Color to Alpha: GIMP>Layer>Transparency>Color to Alpha (but first add alpha channel when needed).

The difference between the Gimp 2.10 GEGL gaussian blur and the Gimp 2.8 gaussian blur filters came up on another forum. I quite like the GEGL version but to be fair, it does not replicate exactly the effect of the older version.

This comes under the category of 'can-not-live-without'

The older filter(s) in Gimp 2.8 (64bit) from C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins might just work in Gimp 2.10

Harvest files from Gimp 2.8 Pop in your Gimp 2.10 profile C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

example:

Might fail under some circumstances but generally ;)

The equivalent in linux works as well.

I have Colour to Alpha but it seems to be continually greyed out. So far I have found that making sure the picture has an alpha channel works.

Took me ages to find Retinex but eventually found it under colour, tone mapping.

Didn't know about the search function and indeed small tiles still exist, but where the heck is it located? lolol

Man; they really made you did for stuff like this; had the same issue finding Retinex, Sallyanne. lolol

Well, at least the presets appear to be there; just in completely different locations (and I've yet found where they placed small tiles, so I guess I'll have to access this one like you did, racer).

I've been (one at a time as needed) getting my GIMP 2.8 filters in GIMP 2.10, Rich, but it will take a long time before I complete this task. lol

:)

If you look in Help -> Plugin Browser Small Tiles is not there - not in the menu system.

But it does show in Help -> Procedure Browser Putting the plugin in your Gimp profile does put it in the menu structure in the usual Filters -> Map

Consider upgrading to a new Gimp a little like a new computer, a chance to get rid of little used stuff.

This new version of gimp is driving me insane! why would they move and remove features like this???
Anyway, one of the features i used the most was called "Alpha To Logo" It could be found under the "Filers" section in the previous version of gimp
From there you could do awesome things like Neon, alien glow, etc. it was by far one of the most useful features. Does any body know where it is now?????

Yeah; Alpha to Logo still exists but it both moved and now you have to add alpha channel to use it. Think Devo. lol

Even though mathmap works, the sliders are now invisible and a few other things like if you want to change background color from say black to transparent, it crashes the plugin. So glad I've kept 2.8.22 around is all I have to say. Hope they fix all the issues. As a side note, even plugins compiled to work in GIMP 2.10 by samj crashes on my GIMP startup but work perfectly fine in samj's portable, but PSPI doesn't work in samj's portable. Very strange behavior; just don't understand but again, I'm not a programmer or compiler. Hats out to you guys that are. Just glad I have a work-a-round for now. :)

Looking in Filters>Map, it doesn't say small tiles. It has Tiles Seamless and Tiles. Small tiles, is not in this version of gimp.

I tried the search tool and it doesn't show up for me. The only Sm command I have is Smudge. Small Tiles is non existent in my version of GIMP.
