Hi,

I am confused. I have switched to Mac and I cannot figure out how to put extra features in gimp-2.10-std.
I want to install arakne-stitch 3b, or something equivalent to stitch scans of large drawings.

Can someone direct me to the right page, or tell me how to do it?

I have looked at some old guides to installing plugins, but they didn't match what I see in my preferences or how script-fu wants to work. (Though I must say that a major caveat is that I have no f%&$@#n idea what I am doing, in general).

Any help greatly appreciated - head about to explode........

Hi ordream.
The process is the same AFAIK across the platforms. Download your script/plugin and drag and drop or copy-n-paste into either the 'scripts' or the 'plug-ins' folder.

With the Arakne-stitch python script you need to check if it's 'executable' and if not make it so. This is just a tick on Linux but may involve fruit on an apple

1) What is the difference between scripts and plugins?

2) How do you know which is which?

3) How do you check if a file 'executable?`


Hurrah.

Plugins are binaries or python (.py). You place them in Plug-Ins folder
Scripts save .scm suffix and go to scripts folder.

Problems I encountered:

1) In the `arakne-stitch3b.py´ and the `locales´files:

When I do the `get info´option, and I unlock the menu with my administration password I can see read and write options, but no execute option.

2) This is what what terminal says based on my interpretation of: `How to Modify Permissions with chmod´
