GIMP 2.10.6 that is. Seems like I do way too often, especially when I use GIMPressionist. Just curious if other folk are experiencing issues too.

Don't have any problem with gimp crashing - Like the program itself stays open. Just with dialogues closing, not responding and then opening up again.
I have had some things not complete because I figured they were incompatible scripts or plugins.
Haven't had a go at gimppressionist since the new vs. Will have a look now

No, but I am not on a Windows machine. I use Ubuntu Linux and it is quite stable, but not for 100%.

Having experienced crashing yet. I am also on Ubuntu. GIMP 2.10.6

Must be a Windows GIMP issue then. Hopefully a future patch will fix it. Good thing; when I re-open GIMP, it offers me recovery. It's just frustrating. Oh well.

I'm on Windows 10 and Gimp 2.10.6. So far i'm not experience any problems. May be you should delete the plugin and re-install it, most of the time that will fix any problems in Gimp. Also, delete you pluginsrc to reset your plugins and let Gimp process it.

GIMPressionist is part of GIMP. Still, it may be good to delete pluginrc and see what happens. Not in to mood to do this at the moment, but will try, Pocholo.

Linux with Gimp 2.10.7 has yet to crash, same goes for all previous 2.10x versions. I never used GIMPressionist before and just tried a bunch of presets with no issues. Is there a particular preset that crashes for you?

Not really, racer; next time I try, I'll post the error (screenshot). Regardless, pretty tired of late but do plan on trying a few things (to include deleting the pluginrc file per suggestion) to see if that resolves this issue.

OK; below's the error with feathers preset in GIMPressionist.

OK; deleted pluginsrc and re-ran. So far, no crash (even with preset used above on same image and different images). We shall see; fingers crossed.

It doesn't crash for me and I'm on Windows 10.

Thought it may have been the size (hoped anyway). I did a small one with Feathers preset then a large A3 paper size with the same preset. They both worked ok. I use Windows 10 64bit. Sorry Lyle.

Yeah; ever since I deleted the pluginsrc file, it seems GIMP's stable again. If it starts to go flaky again, I'll disable CPU acceleration since I already know it has issues with some plugins already.

Anyone have a good idea how to get 2.10.6 to start? This happened to me a couple weeks ago also. It has worked well since I re downloaded and set it up. (Samj's version). Today, I used it early in the day and all went well. Tonight I have not been able to get it to load at all. I have even tried the other language versions and none of them worked. I hate to keep reloading and resetting everything. I don't know why it works so well, and suddenly not work at all! Don't think it is a windows thing as I never had that problem on the previous versions. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I did not download anything new today either.

Did you try the "traditional" pluginrc deletion?

No, I did not as did not know the problem. I finally deleted it and will download it again today.

Sometimes you also go higher (i.e., delete gimprc) which completely resets GIMP. Anyway, hope your issue gets resolved soo, Pat. You don't have to re-download GIMP either; the GIMP reconstructs these files.

You do not need to download Gimp pack again (as also Lyle said) if the deletion of pluginrc solves the problem.
Try always first this often effective and still quick and easy means.

my 2.10.6 seems to take ages to load. Like it is doing for the first time, each time.
