www.youtube.com Video from : www.youtube.com

Fractal keyframing and rendering was done in Mandelbulber. Rendering took 12 hours. Then over 4,000 PNG layers were opened in Gimp. Unfortunately this hits a 'memory wall' because you need a huge amount of ram to process an image of that size. Breaking the render into segments gets around that. Gimp tools used were setting framerate, removing hot pixels with G'MIC, merging backgrounds and outputting video with Gimp GAP. Backgrounds were made with Gimp Mathmap and faded with G'MIC.

The reason I called this a 'randomized thought experiment' was because I decided not to select pre-made fractals to hybridize, but use a random number generator to select them instead. Does using random maths diminish or enhance the production of art? An interesting question I think.

I don't understand why these fractals change completely while the camera moves through them, but it reminds me of how the universe adapts to everything we do, or maybe even think.

WOW! Spectacular and extremely complex. I do not have enough neurons to even begin to understand that.

Thanks for the 'likes' from 'neurolurker' and Pat625. neurolurker is a cool forum name for sure. I've started another randomly chosen hybrid fractal, keyframing expedition into 3d inner space.....

Great work Tas. You're learning along quite well I see. Too busy with work to try any new s/w out, maybe sometime when I has extra time to tinker...

There's a musical hick-up at 1:10.

Hi racer-x, too bad about working at least you are earning a living ;)

Hi nutello, I'm aware of that. Lazy cutting-up in Audacity. Clip is pretty short and music is pretty long.
Have realised audio is a key part of clips like this and the standards are high. The human eye and ear will always discover the imperfections but it's so good we do...hi to you in Nederland. :cool

it's fascinating. I think that creating it must have been overwhelming and intense work. Thanks Tas.

Thanks Lyle, time to let this one drop down the page and into the mists of server memory...

Issabella "creating it must have been overwhelming and intense work." Not so bad really, tolerant partner, good computer and some time to spare. A bigger issue for me is that 3D fractals are a place people never seem to leave. Maybe because fractals are virtual universes and our 'real world' has got too many problems. BTW I saw the almost finished Gaudi's Barcelona Cathedral on TV - Wow, what a work of art.

Very good Tas. I couldn't see it yesterday. My I/N was on go slow (must have been the heat unless everyone was out of it yesterday and on the internet)

wow, are you a musician or something? I couldn't hear a (hick-up) even though I was listening for it at the time you specified.

Strangely compelling experience - thought the music fitted really well - a real achievement T.

Actually, it looks like I'll be forced into early retirement in the next few months at 58....

Thats too bad racer-x...maybe you can spend more time with your family, photography, bikes, drones and doing graphics. Life is cruel sometimes :)

It's not by choice. In the 38 years I worked for my company, I've only missed 2 days of work (not counting vacation). I'll probably get a part time job just to keep me busy. I know I'll be bored quickly, as I've been working my tail off since I was 11 years old....

I might take up fishing, I haven't done that since I was a kid.

Your lucky to have been with one company for that long, that's an excellent record. I was self-employed for about 25 years
10 years driving taxis in Sydney and 15 years in computers in Tas. Been using Linux for over 20 years.
Fishing and anything outdoors is OK by me.
