Back in the UK. I have had a play with one of the photographs. I tried to make the statue stand out from the background - not entirely successful.
Also, as I posted this, I noticed my mistake, which I am sure everyone will see!

Another attempt at IMG_8364. This time I created a mask for diffusing the background - not ideal, but perhaps an improvement on the previous try. Luminosity mask and Colours/Curves to lighten the statue.

IMG_8348 repeated, this time at full definition. Perspective correction (using Hugin) and Colours/Curves.

IMG_8361. I decided to make the fountain the centre of interest. Levelled and cropped to centre the fountain. Two layers - lower layer I used Textured Glass to diffuse it and Colours/Curves to darken. Upper layer added an elliptical layer mask, heavily blurred and brightened the water with a small tweak of Colours/Curves.

And the next one! IMG_8363 - I have done very little to this one. Perspective correction, a slight crop, curves to lighten the trees and a lttle colour boost.

IMG_8360. Many layers from multiple selections!!! Each layer adjusted individually.
I hope the result justifies the effort, although the .xcf file will allow all sorts of adjustment.

edit: I diffused the wrong layer for the background, causing a halo around the statue, now replaced.

Definitely, your effort was worth it. The image has become much more interesting. I like it a lot.

After yesterdays' complicated procedure, a very simple treatment - Luminosity mask D, to bring out detail in the statue and soften slightly the surroundings.

IMG_8462. I used Hugin to apply perspective correction to overcome the wide angle lens effect. As a result I have lost some width from the photograph, but I hope the narrower format accentuates the height of the bridge. I increased the brightness in the shadow areas and a little increase in colour.

The other two ones were taken in the small gallery placed at the back of the wine cellar.
It's a famous wine cellar in Málaga where many well-known people have signed a barrel.
